Food safety is very important in the food industry. Because of this, food safety and quality are major concerns at Klaas de Poel B.V. As a result of this, we are BRC and GMP certified for several years now.
To make sure our products reach up to the standards, we start inspecting the food quality in the country of origin by means of audits. We check multiple issues, for example the state of the buildings and equipment, hygene, the way they work, quality awareness, etc.
With these audits we contribute to the quality development, to prevent unsafe and low quality to be delivered. When the product is finally delivered to our factory, the quality control continues. We check all products visually (stones, stems, berry size) but also the moisture and microbiological parameters.
The latter is done by an third party laboratory. This company checks for the following parameters: aflatoxin, ochratoxin and other microtoxins and microbiological data (total plate count, yeast and moulds, e.coli, enterobacteriaceae and salmonella).
